NATIONAL COLLEGE OF IRELAND INVITE PUBLIC TO ENTER NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION DURING ALL ABOARD WEEK 2017 FROM 3-7 APRIL
Learn New Digital Skills Through Photography
“Get snapping and share your photos with us ” is The National College of Ireland’s (NCI’s) message to the public for “Learning Through A Lens” a photography competition for All Aboard 2017, a week of regional and national events that will take place from 3-7 April next to help the public build confidence in their digital skills for learning.
NCI’s “Learning Through a Lens” competition encourages people to become more competent and confident in digital skills for learning by taking a photograph, uploading it to Instagram and telling NCI about it @ hashtag #ncidigitalskills.
Photographs must focus on one of the following two themes: learning in the community; learning in the workplace. NCI invites participants to interpret both themes as broadly as possible and to maximise on creativity.
The winners of ‘Best Photograph’ for both themes will each receive a Samsung10inch Tablet and a pair of Beats by Dr Dre headphones. All competitors can enter a draw for a Samsung Galaxy mini-tablet.
The public interested in “Learning through a Lens” might also like to note NCI’s digital photography walkabout that takes place in the Dublin Docklands area from 3.30pm on Tuesday 4 April.
Open to anyone with an interest in photography and led by Dublin-based photographer Deryck Tormey, this session offers an introduction to photography basics before Deryck accompanies participants on a walk-about of Dublin’s Docklands area to help and encourage budding photographers to identify and capture images from the area. During the guided walk-about, Deryck will be on hand to answer questions and help participants learn new skills or to improve on established knowledge.
Requirements for session participants are straightforward- open eyes and your own creativity. Anyone with an interest in photography should consider this session – any camera can be used, people of all photography/digital skills – from absolute beginners to pros- are welcome.
